About this place
At Shigetomi, nigiri is the focus, but grilled fish and small dishes make it easy to build a fuller evening meal. Visitors have singled out the salmon, while others mention salmon roe nigiri and red miso soup.
The nigiri selection includes tuna, greater amberjack, salmon and salmon roe, as well as octopus and squid. You can order pieces individually or choose the 8-piece “Premium Nigiri” or 10-piece “Chef’s Nigiri Selection”, depending on your appetite and how you prefer to order. Sashimi is also available, including greater amberjack, horse mackerel and swordtip squid.
For something grilled or fried alongside the sushi, there is grilled fish collar, grilled squid tentacles and finely fried scallop. One visitor reported enjoying the salted grilled collar and the fried scallop, offering a glimpse of how a meal here might extend beyond sushi.
Drinks include the Kyoto local sake Hidenosakari, served warm, and chilled sake from other regions. The menu also lists house-made shiso shochu highballs and freshly squeezed kabosu citrus highballs. To finish, choose a small bowl of nyumen (warm somen noodles) or ramen, or a salted kelp roll.
For a meal chosen by the kitchen, there is also a course priced at 5,500 yen, with contents that change according to the season and supply. Reservations are accepted for groups of 3 to 20. The restaurant takes reservations and accepts cash only. It suits both an evening of choosing nigiri piece by piece and a meal with friends over a course.
